a The Florida Pollution Prevention Roundtable (FLPPR) is an organization incorporated as a Florida non- profit corporation in April , 2002 whose mission is to establish a forum for identifying, coordinating, and promoting voluntary Pollution Prevention (P2) activities and resources throughout the State of Florida. Prior to incorporation FLPPR operated for 4 years as a volunteer based, Florida Department of Environmental Protection sponsored organization. The organization is currently managed on a voluntary basis by elected officers and a Board of Directors comprised of representatives from federal, state and local government environmental agencies, private industry, academic institutions and citizen groups with a mission or interest in promoting P2 activities in their organizations or communities. The organization currently has no permanent paid employees. The members of the organization are composed of individuals representing the same interest groups and organizations as described for the Board of Directors. Membership in the organization is based on a dues structure for public and private sector entities. Activities and functions of the corporation are carried out by members of the Board of Directors, members acting individually or as members of corporate committees.

FLPPR performs the following primary functions and activities to accomplish its mission of promoting P2 activities in the State of Florida:

  • Maintains a FLPPR website for communication, promotion and sharing of P2 information for the use of members and the general public including a library of P2 reference materials contributed by and regularly updated by members and member organizations.

 

  • Conducts regular Board of Director and general membership meetings to coordinate management of P2 activities and to serve as a forum for information dissemination of state local or national P2 issues of concern.

 

  • Plans or sponsors or conducts environmental pollution prevention forums and training sessions to disseminate state of the art P2 information to industry, government, individuals and communities.

 

  • Conducts marketing and promotions to increase membership and name recognition of FLPPR.

 

  • Maintains the required business functions and duties of the FLPPR Corporation.

 

  • Works with EPA and FDEP on promoting P2 and E2 in Florida.
